The Write Habit

15 Minute Meditation for Writers: The Inner Door Your Writing Has Been Waiting For

Season 2 Episode 3

This guided meditation is for writers who feel stuck, restless, or subtly blocked - because something beneath the surface is asking to be seen.

In this 15-minute session, which comes from a live program I ran recently, I guide you through:

  • A calming breath practice to settle your nervous system
  • A gentle transition into a trance-like pause, beyond thinking and effort
  • A visualisation that leads you to an inner door - a blind spot that’s been quietly calling for your attention
  • 5 minutes of spacious time (with music) to write down what you see
  • After the 5 minutes, you can jump off and keep journaling, or debrief with me and get writing tips

This meditation creates conditions where insights can arrive through images, sensations, and inner wisdom instead of thinking.

Come back to this practice whenever you feel 'off' in your writing or life.  Sometimes the next step isn’t more effort - it’s opening the right door.

So let's sit comfortably, maybe one hand on the heart, another hand on the belly or the solar plexus. You don't need to have a specific breath right now. Just take two or three breaths normally and just notice where they show up. If you can feel them more around the belly or if your chest is the stronger part where the breath naturally shows. And maybe it shows the most around your nostrils when the cold air goes in and out and we do a double inhale. So we first take a deep breath into the belly and then hold that and take a sip into the chest on top. Hold that as long as you can and let all of that go. We do it once more, a deep breath into the belly, a sip into the chest on top. Hold it, hold it, and when you can't hold it anymore, just let it go and feel your shoulders drop. Maybe you need to roll your shoulders or you need to roll your neck. We are releasing all the things that need to be released. So this time I give the prompt while the music is already on. Imagine that you are lifting up from the ground, but just take that vision. But imagine you're lifting up and maybe you are enjoying it. You are maybe flying upward like Superwoman, or maybe you are gently drifting upwards, just feeling this is normal, this is safe, this is. I'm just experiencing this Little Dream. Up, up, up you go. And then you see a portal in front of you. There is some sort of door, and there's a light coming through. Imagine that you're floating towards that door and you have no idea whatsoever what's on the other side. It doesn't matter, but there's a strong, warm light that is inviting you to come closer. And imagine you are now standing in front of that Dora and you're grabbing the handle and slowly pushing it away from you, pushing it open. And what comes out is a really strong beam of light. Now rub your hands together. Now, being that you are safe and full of light with all your guides around you, and your guides are going to tell you what's behind that door, who is waiting for you, What scene is waiting? Push it open and then what? I'm going to give you 5 minutes to write down whatever is behind that door. OK, what's what do you see behind the door? 5 minutes. The. OK, that was about 5 minutes. If you can just hop into the shed and give me a feeling word, how you feeling right now in this moment. If you're on the replay, write that down in your notebook or in the Word document where you've been writing. And that is something I recommend every time you channel on your book, not just to be in the moment of the channelling. It says glowing in the chat. That's beautiful, not just being in that moment of channelling and enjoying that flow, but also regularly taking a mini break of checking in with yourself because throughout writing for an hour or two, some people write that long. I, I have shorter times, but the emotions will go up and down. There will be 10s. It's like you're living what you're writing, you're working through stuff. So checking in with the emotions just helps you to be more embodied in your writing. And when you feel that something is sticky or tough, I don't know what waited for you at the other side of the door, just sort of notice the emotion and hold it. Because that gives you the capacity to be an author who can shift with the things that are happening, who can expand the capability and the capacity to hold the difficult moments and the easier moments. I also feel glowing because the scene that I saw behind the door was sort of redemption. So I really literally didn't know what would be behind the door. That's why it's such a magical prompt. You can replay that for yourself anytime, by the way, or just ask that question another time. What came through for me was on the other side. So I remember the story I just told about my children and the butterfly moments and me not being super nice. So I pushed open the door. Now I'm trying not to cry, but that's where my children stood. And we had a really but wonderful vision together where they led me into a place, into a beautiful Meadow actually, where we were playing together. And then we found a waterfall and we played by the waterfall and the whole scene was really vivid. It was like in the cinema, you're watching the scene happening and while I was watching myself laughing and giggling with my children and feeling like yes, like yes, we are OK, I'm OK as a mother. It doesn't take a lot. It doesn't take a lot of money, it doesn't take a lot of being perfect and on time. It's just being with them and allowing. I felt that in my body and I hope this this vision with the door was helpful for you and hopefully gave you a positive feeling. If there was something negative behind that door, you can always go back into the automatic writing and ask your guidance, your subconscious, your guides, your universe supporters. Why did you show me that? You know, if you're not quite sure what it means, just ask what does it mean? So that is my tip for today. So this was a maybe a more demanding session. There's a lot more deeper work we can do here with automatic writing and in the book writing journey. Some of that deeper work you can do yourself by just going into the automatic writing and be guided by the channelling method, opening doors, asking more questions, noticing your feelings while you're doing it. So you can practise that in the next weeks. You can also do it with me in the upcoming course, The Awakened Author, where we will be doing deeper work a little bit more like today, where it's not just asking your channel. Oh, drop me the title. It feels great. It's a great start, but a book that wants momentum, that wants you to return even on the harder days is easier to write when you are going on a slightly longer held structured journey. So that is an invitation. There's nothing, no pressure here. It's something if you feel it's calling to you and you want to start January 26th doing it once a week and throughout a Telegram channel, join me in that. We can close the ritual now. So of course, you can always keep the channel open. You can go to bed tonight and ask your guides to give you more visions while you sleep or give you a really great thought when you wake up. So you literally close your eyes when you go to bed and say, by the way, channel while I'm sleeping, it's open. And tomorrow morning I'd like to have a thought and just go to sleep. No expectations as always, and maybe something will come. So I'm going to close that Channel for myself and for those of you who want to close it, taking a deep breath and just allowing the guides to do their thing. Now go and leave us be so we can focus on the day that we have ahead of us or the night, the bedtime routines, all the things. Thank you and keep up. Keep up the good work and I'll see you soon.
